a long read on one of my most detested little creatures and the havoc that can now cause around the world. So you guys, in the East and Midwest so far, when you drive through the forest stay in the car. I remember one attached to the back of my head above the hair line when I was 10 years old in Maryland. Our new dog brought them into the house. I remember my mother using tweezers to remove them from the dog and I would first use a hammer to smash them and then I started to burn them to death.

Lyme disease is far bigger than most people realize. We know from experience as our daughter is diagnosed with it. It is such a debilitating disease that is very hard to diagnose and treat. That is if you can find a doctor to treat it. We are in Canada and the Canadian govt. will tell you where you are at risk of being bitten by a tick, what a tick bite looks like, and where to take the tick to have it tested, but they will do nothing to treat it. It is hard to watch your daughter go from an active, energenic person to some one bound to a wheelchair because she can't walk more than a couple of steps. The co-infections have gotten into her organs and some have crossed the blood brain barrier into her brain. The list of meds she is on right now is mind boggling, and it is all out of our own pockets because the province won't treat it and insurance won't pay. My wife has had to quit her job because she needs 24 hr care now. I could go on and on about this, but the point is that if anyone thinks that they are in any way immune to this disease they will regret their lack of understanding of what this can do to them.
Take some advice, if you find a tick on you or you think that you have been bitten get it checked out.

Here if a tick gets you we can get it tested for free to make sure it is not a carrier

I'm so sorry to hear this. I didn't even know what I tick was till a few years ago. We inspect or kids from head to toe every time they play outside.

I have Lyme disease and have had it since at least Feb 2015. Even when the Lyme strain is not life threatening, the array of symptoms from this bacterial infection can be mind-boggling. I have struggled with Lyme disease arthritis and deterioration of ligaments/tendons, along with loss of balance, dry eyes, dry skin, and minor loss of memory. Other people have experienced vision problems, sensitivity to light, tinnitus, senility, petite mal seizures, grand mal seizures, and paralysis.

I am head of a Lyme disease group in Richmond Virginia. We have over 200 people on an email list. Because of CDC restrictions on Lyme disease diagnosis, such that 5 different antibiotic bands have to be found in an IgG Western blot test for a person to be diagnosed Lyme disease positive, most people aren’t diagnosed. Doctors and nurses are forced to follow this testing procedure, which leaves many people in our area untreated, such that they’re trying all sorts of remedies that they find on the Internet and are paying for out-of-pocket.

Worst of all the CDC does not acknowledge that long-term Lyme disease exists, as if all Lyme disease can be cured with 30 days of doxycycline. Now that the CDC acknowledges that over 300,000 people a year contract Lyme disease, the Lyme disease situation in the United States is beyond bizarre. The CDC acknowledges the problem, but won't acknowledge that cases last beyond 30 days. Anything over 30 days is called: post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome (PTLDS). Again the result is no insurance coverage.

I personally have been turned away by a nurse practitioner and an MD Rhematologist, because I didn’t have all 5 bands positive for the Western Blot (despite having several tick bites and having band 41 positive, which is immune system reaction to something with a flagella, a tail for swimming. Human cells do not have flagella). People in our area share names of doctors and testing facilities, who will actually help with Lyme, like classified information, because of fears that our state medical board will take away their licenses to practice.

Yes, if you are in the woods or even in your yard, check yourself for ticks when you come in from being outside. The good news is that ticks can take several hours to find the right spot to attach, so you may remove the tick before it bites. Another option is to put a lot Damminix tick tubes around your yard and hope that the Lyme disease carrying ticks die as nymphs or larvae and never make it to adulthood.

I have a lot of unwanted expertise on this disease if anybody needs help. My current protocol is low-dose antibiotics rotated every 2 months, Rawls restorative protocol, lauricidin for yeast infection in blood due to Lyme disease immune system disruption, serrapeptase for biofilm break up, chlorella for detox, charcoal for detox, rife radio wave treatment every other day as an auxiliary antibiotic, Epsom salt baths daily to relax muscles, magnesium oil on problem muscle areas twice a day. Hope this helps someone, Ben

One of my cousins here in Oregon was a logger most of his life until he got arthritis so bad he could not longer work. It took the VA almost three years to finally figure out what was wrong with him, and that, he got lucky as a specialist in Lyme disease happened to visit the VA hospital he was at and correctly diagnosed him. The disease can be cured, but unfortunately, at least for my cousin, the arthritis is now a daily ordeal for him as that damage cannot be reversed.

Basically all the health unit is doing is tracking where the infected ticks are showing up. It is still up to the individual to get tested, and the test in Canada is outdated and flawed anyway. One is best to get tested in the U.S. at Igenix or someplace similar.

This is part of the Socialist Health Care cost containment. It is cheaper to make happy noises about treatment than it is to actually do it.(Treatment)

Our goal is to get our daughter to the Spenaugle Institute in Florida for treatment. But the money is a huge barrier right now. I was diagnosed with Lyme as well, but am managing a lot better than my daughter is. My wife is a nurse and has been doing a ton of research and is a Lyme treatment guru. I am taking enough homepathics and other things to keep it in check. Our focus is our daughter first.

Last few winters in PA have been rather mild. I went into the woods for probably no longer then 10 minutes and had at least 3 ticks crawling on me. I have been bitten by 2 ticks, lucky i did not catch anything.

I live on long island in kings park and I have a summer cottage in East Marion. In the last three years I contacted rocky mountain spotted fever which I thought was going to kill me. my 11 year old daughter and myself tested positive for lyme thankfully no symptoms. I lost my three year old frenchton dog from a certain type of lyme which shut his kidneys down. He was healthy on Sunday and had to put him to sleep Tues cause they said he had no chance. I would of gave him my kidney if I could. After a while the house just was not the same so I got a yellow lab puppy As with the other dog I used front line some collar that was 100.00 and would come her out and keep her out of the woods and if you could believe it one must of got by because she tested for a tick born infection which thankfully they were able to treat. The days of pulling them out and forgetting about em our long over. Take every precaution you can and if you get one go get a blood test. The funny thing is kings park is a suburb I can look out my window and see 10 deer in the street plus its getting overrun with chipmunks. Be safe and take all precautions. Stay Healthy

Deer ticks carry this infection in pretty much every area of the country. Take care if you hunt when you clean or pack out your carcass. The little parasites know fairly quickly if their host is dead. If you are packing out a deer or elk, guess who the next host is.

I pray that you have success with this...

I know it’s flawed and most times down right broken
I wasn’t aware of the test being outdated though

I came across this site: Lyme disease fact sheet - Fact sheets, which states:
How is Lyme disease treated?
Most cases of Lyme disease can be treated successfully with a few weeks of an appropriate antibiotic, such as doxycycline, which are widely available in NSW.
Not sure if true, don't really know much about this condition.

I thought more of the story I experienced. Compaired to what I have seen with neighbors with the suffering they go through young and old and even death. On the nort fork of long island and shelter island if you don't have lyme disease you are quite an exception. As people have said it is moving all over the country Cover up and were spray when in the woods always check yourself and your animals. It was terrible to loose my dog but It does not compare to the loss of a human life or a life of suf.

You can send a tick away to be tested, to a college in New England, Amherst i believe. For $60 they'll tell you if it has lyme. For $200 they'll tell you if has anything. It is TICKREPORT.COM. Takes about 3 days. I've tried alot of stuff to get rid of the symptoms. The biggest game changer for me has been from a company called Nutramedix. I take their Samento and Banderol. I can't seem to shake the heart palpitations and occasional bouts of arthritis. I have read Doxycycline is a waste after 30 days from the date of the bite. And from experience, I have to agree. It does however, leave my immune system in shambles. I like a good whole food vitamin C and the B vitamins. Magnesium oratate, Garlic, ginger, tumeric, zinc, and lots of lemon water.
