Running into an issue with the clutch on my '67 Dodge Polara 500. It has the 383 V-8 4-bbl engine with a 4-Speed manual transmission. It does not seem to be getting enough throw out of the clutch release mechanism to allow both full engagement and disengagement with no pressure on the release bearing when fully engaged. As a result, the shifting can be a bit rough and it will sometimes slip out of gear. It looks like the throw out rod may need to be extended a bit to allow the clutch mechanism to work efficiently. Does anyone have any experience with this on other Mopars with this configuration? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Wes

Sounds like your situation is similar to what I had when I installed a new clutch in my '66 Fury. My solution was to make up a longer rod. Has been working well for a couple years now. I don't know for sure, but I suspect there must be a dimensional difference between the old (original?) clutch and the replacement.. Hope this might help.

Thanks for the response. Was it the Torque Shaft or Adjusting Rod that you increased the length on? Or was it something else?
