as most of ya know am still sortin out mopars...need some clarification on the 71 440s...in reading the article above it states

quote..
: This is the original engine, and was rebuilt to stock specs. The 440 Super Commando was available for the last time in 1971; it was a 9.7 compression engine (all of the 440 4bbl engines were below 10.0 since 1970 due to insurance premiums) with a single Carter AVS. There was also an available 440 with 9.0 compression called the 440 Commando model offered in other Plymouth C-Bodies that year. Due to the advent of unleaded fuel, that number fell to 8.2 compression on all B/RB engines in 1972

so way l gather this is the 71 super commando was the top of the line engine for the 71 gt with compression @9.7 and the commando 440 was the same engine with 9.0 compression and would be found in other 71 models ie challenger ect...?

seeing info all over the boards in regards to the 71 440...just tryin to sort out the chaff

That was a very messy era in engine lineups for all the makers. I couldn't keep up with what was what even back then when I ate up that stuff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm still lost. All I remember was that I considered 1969 as the pinnacle and it was downhill from there with 1971 as the beginning of the end.

I could have sworn he had some tasteful stripes on the rump done in a "ghost" paint. Don't see them now.

Winchester Grey, if I remember right. I thought Slate Grey was the lighter shade. That's one big hunk of rolling real estate that just looks right just the way it sits. And that interior! Damn, someone checked off all the right boxes on that order form! Very, very nice.

It is pretty but I noticed it has a 69 pad. I would have opted for buckets, the 71 buckets are more comfortable than any other seat I have been in

am glad to know them buckets are comfy :O)

belive it was Winchester grey

I had a 71 300 4dr parts car that had the buckets, and buddy seat. I agree that those bucket seats were comfortable. I think because they were just a tad bigger then the B-body ones....so had a little more cushion. ;)
