Well lately you may have seen my posts about my next project on my 68 300, putting on disc brakes, but after all the planning and parts gathering and prep, instead of doing a disc brake job all i was successful at was breaking a disc.....in my back. As im typing this im flat on my back in ridiculous pain in the hospital awaiting surgery in the morning! It had been bothering me for a few weeks, but 2 nights ago the hammer dropped and a disc just absolutey exploded, I've never had such intense pain down the whole length of my leg like I've had the last couple of days. Looks like a good chunk of my summer cruizin plans have been shortened by a couple of months. Oh well, whatcha gonna do right. I dont know yet what to expect for heal up time, but I've been enjoying my time here askin questions and seeing what others have going on, gonna miss it for a while. Have fun guys, and enjoy those rides! Catcha all later.
Ken.

Ken, I hope you are feeling better tomorrow! Get well soon! And give us an update when you're feeling up to it! We'll miss you!!!

Huge bummer, sorry to hear! I know that pain. I burst 2 discs and herniated a third about 8 years ago and that was without a doubt the worst pain I've ever had. I avoided surgery and the road to recovery was long and I still live with discomfort daily. It's tolerable most of the time now depending on what I'm doing and to a certain extent I think I'm used to it.

So sorry to hear, Ken. Best of luck to you on your surgery and recovery. It will be long and it will be tough, but it will be worth it! Keep your chin up, and keep pushin' on! Take care, brother.

Been there, done that...had spinal fusion at L3/S1....got a 4 inch titanium cage supporting the rest of my spinal structure. Surgery is not fun, esp. when its in your back. Sincerely wish you good luck.

This thread is really depressing! Gary what did you do to injure yours?

Nothing.
Old Lady ran a red light at 65mph and t-boned the car I was driving. I only remember the first micro-seconds of the initial impact and then waking up in a nearby hospital. I never saw her car until after it was towed to the junkyard.

Damn, sorry to hear about that, how long ago?

Bummer, Ken.

I was pulling the brake booster from my parts car the other day & thought I was gonna have to call 911. ;)

Getting old sucks.

My nephew is in town for a few days and helping me replace the rear speakers on my NYB...I don't think I can get my big old *** in the trunk and swap out the speakers! LOL! I guess I could climb in the trunk if I had to but heck, he's 17 and thinks the NYB is cool.

Well thank you all for your kindness, thats a big lift when you're hurting like this. I'm still lying here waiting for my turn under the knife, its gotten pushed back twice already. I'd hoped to be in recovery by now. I just cant believe the pain even with the heavy drugs. I've had many, many kidneystones, but this is right up there with that but with no relief, so, thanks again "C buddies".:sSig_thanks:

Hang tough. I know exactly what you are going through. Yeah, back pain is the worst pain in the world...by far. Be very careful with those heavy duty pain killers, they are double edged sword.

I used to make fun about colleagues at work who complained about this, never thinking how bad this can be until I was struck once myself, just lumbago with no operation involved but I had problems for months. I'm a believer now. :)

I spent some time on fentanyl, it was the only thing that even dulled the pain and then as I began to manage the pain, getting off the fentanyl was another terrible experience.

Man Ken I'm sorry for your pain and hope everything goes cracking well and you are back on your feet again soon.

Matt that was one of my worries since a kid .. saw scared straight and never wanted to get hooked on drugs. I had fentanyl prescribed many times .. took it one time. Did nothing for me except make me sleepy. Then I just started refusing it and I've been drinking away the pain for last 25 years. So in the end used another drug instead.
