Looking at 1972 Imperial, needs engine

[insert 'it's not about the money, C-bodies are never worth the investment' comment here]

Even if that's a rare ABS car or something, it sure looks like a money pit.
Even if a guy already has a loose engine waiting for a car to put it in.

It does seem to be the case that C-body restoration is more about love than money :).

Hopefully, whomever gets this Imperial will sell-off any good parts, including rare options, to let a more intact example fight-on for another day.

Hi all. New to the forum to ask for advice. I'm looking at a 72 Imperial with no engine or transmission. I always liked the fuselage body cars, but never had one. I'd be saving this one from the derby. Haven't seen it yet, but I will tomorrow. He's asking $3k. If it's as clean as he says, I'd like to get it. But I don't want to go broke putting it back together. I'm told the engine was removed properly. How easy will it be to find a correct 440 and 727 for this car, preferably a good runner, and what should I expect to pay? Any help is appreciated!
If it's triple black out of Ohio that's my car I just sold at the end of last summer. It was a roller when I got it. The roof is crumbs under that vinyl top and the instrument panel is just laying in the dash. It's not a factory black car it was green and repainted black. Engine bay is still green inside. I contemplated buying it back as a parts car for my 73 but they're asking double what i sold it to them for.
