Ever since I was a kid, I've wanted a replica of a car that we, as a family, own/owned. I've gotten close - the Matchbox Cougar station wagon, when we had a Cougar XR7; my Corgi S&H Torino when my dad had a '76 base Torino, etc. - but never something in the right colour, or with the right number of doors, or the right trim level.

I was super-excited when I found a copy of the White Rose '73 Fury police car. I don't think there are any other replicas of the '73 Fury, and starting as a four door was a nice change (most toy cars and models are of the sportiest, 2-door versions of a given car, after all).

However, I had to convert the sedan to a hard-top, so after disassembling and stripping the body, out came the Dremel to remove the door frames...

Then some body filler to the roof to patch the holes where the bubble gum light and antenna go:

Then primer...

And then a lovely shade of brown, made out of a mix of Model Master acrylics, Tamiya and Gunze paints, with some metallic pigments thrown in:

And more to come below!

Then some gloss:

And then a polish!

I used Tamiya tape to create some vinyl roof strips, and for masking to spray the vinyl top:

It's looking like my car more and more!

Add in the vent windows with some plastic stock, using what I left of the original window frame as the front of the vent window:

Meanwhile, the not very detailed - or accurate - interior got a goldy shade made out of bronze and tan paints and some gold pigment; I didn't go nearly gold enough, unfortunately, but it gets the point across :). At least I did the darker brown parcel shelf, which adds some realism!

I also HAD to have whitewalls! The fact that this replica has the correct wheel covers moulded in is epic, so they needed to be complimented correctly. I made a mask out of a bearing and some washers, taped/glued in place on each tire:

With the window trim foiled and everything put back together, the side rub strip was painted on:

And below, the final reveal...

The grill was black-washed, "bare metal foil" was used on all of the rocker and window trim...

And note the custom lisence plates...

...and the back-up light!

The underside wasn't ignored, either!

So, all in all, it's not my best work (I'm used to modeling at 1:24-1:25 scale), but it's still the closest thing to a good replica of any car I've ever owned!

I usually don't even bother looking at 1/43 scale because its so small, but your work here is awesome! Can you post the non-Mopars as well?
