110 will do a job, it uses more input amperage which cost you $$ from your power company. 110 will only do up to a 1/4", which you should really do multi pass over 1/4". Your duty cycle at that level is very short, like 20%, the more you pop your duty cycle breaker the quicker it will go off over the life of the machine. For small jobs and panels/sheet metal a 110 would be fine.
Comes down to what you want, or intend to do, a 318 will move the car but a 440 is better at it.
 
I have passed numerous welding tests in 45 years. including NYS DOT. 220 , 440 three phase and diesel machines are the best. 110 machines are made for temporary or tack welding. 110 plasma arc suck. My recent pipe tests. View attachment 409187
