Awesome build!
I have never liked seeing a clean car "hacked". Looks to have the potential to eat tires as the cuts were left sharp. There are plenty of rust buckets out there that can have the **** hacked out of them and it would be considered an improvement, so why do this to a nice car.

Probably to save the hassle of repairing the rust. Shame though, like you say there are lots of lesser quality examples out there.

It was a rusty parts car that was going to be scrapped? I absolutely love this build. Cant wait to see it in person at Volo in June!

One of the comments indicated this is being done to what was otherwise tabbed as a parts car by the owner.

I saw that on FB. Pretty cool.
The car was a parts car for one that was restored. They looked at the car and determined it was worth saving and they are making this one a gasser. Like Wyatt said, can't wait to see it at Volo in June.

Damn, I was hoping it was actually nice so I could weigh in with a bunch of drivel about "we shouldn't judge" etc. Oh well.
Still seems dumb to me because no one would have used a car like that back in the gasser days.

I saw the car the day I bought the road wheels for the NYer from him. It was sitting out back at his shop, waiting to get a new lease on life. The plans were already in motion to make it a gasser. And with the engine that was in his shop, and some other components that will be going into this build I saw that day, this Monaco is going to be one radical Slabby.
I'm looking forward to seeing it at Volo on June 22nd.

If you want to run those big tires on the back then a spring relocation with deep off set rims, and/or a narrowed axle, or maybe a 8 3/4 axle from say an A/B or E-body would be the way I would have gone. Try and save the rear quarters as best as possible.
