Mopar Sales 2018

As the article says a lot of the blame needs to fall onto the consumer who heads out to by the biggest they can. Manufacturers see this and build accordingly which adds to the cost. Then there are all the electronic doodads which adds more cost so around and around it goes between buyer and builder.

If one were smart a car would cost many less money. The 2018 Mazda 3 I picked out had all the necessary stuff but none of the fluff from inside to outside which is why the car sat. It ended up costing just a hair more than my 2004 Focus did. Monthly payment identical with identical terms and a slightly lower rate.

They were dying to give them away last weekend in your neighborhood Bob.

My local Dodge dealer was calling, texting, emailing me and offering to put me in a brand new Ram. My Ram is barely a year old.

Where's local? I bought mine at Cook Motors on 40.
I was also at Keene and another I'm drawing a blank on.

Cook Motors on 40 is my local dealer in Aberdeen.

Thompson is about 10 miles farther south on 40 in Edgewood.

Jones is north in BelAir.

Jarretsville Chrysler is farther north in Jarretsville.

We have spent so much time trying to convince people in 2-3 year old cars to trade up that we forgot who our natural enemy is - Phord/Govmint Motors owners is who we need to be calling - FCA is so wrapped up in marketing to existing customers they are missing out on converting other makes. It’s pretty shortsighted in my mind.

My Ram is a low production one year Special Edition. Plus I have spent thousands of dollars adding stuff to it. They just dont get it....I'm not ever going to get rid of that truck.

Sales are pretty much down across the board except for one line is how I see it and that jives with what the industry is seeing. Won't be better next year.

Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

Bloomberg is a robot and he just rented an office building to use as his independent presidential campaign headquarters. Must think he can buy the election. when Americans see his positions on things like gun control and civil rights (He thinks the government has a right and a duty to violate constitutionally mandated rights), this campaign will end up like his last one, failed.

No one will ever get me to buy a new diesel with all the electronics and the piss burner, sorry they do not last.

:soapbox: whatever you are talking about...

Doesn't change a thing about where cars are headed. All those data points are out there for the taking in the financials. The auto industry is changing rapidly and they obviously are concerned about ride sharing and the certain groups that love it. Besides Bloomberg was formed in 1990 to deliver financial news which predates anything else in regards to the man. They absorb financial news and data from around the world once again irregardless of the man. Yet haters will be haters just as with Musk and Tesla.

In fact I have altered my forecast given all that I have read recently regarding all the trends that affect cars. In 20 years a majority of cars sold in the U.S. will be electric and more so elsewhere in Europe and China. In 30 years a majority will now be automated. I'll be dead in 25 years for sure which is why I don't see the point in paying top dollar for our cars now. There is no upside for the estate down the line.

I think I was Southwest.
Just looked it up, I was also at Heritage.
Keene and Cook were trying real hard to sell, at least it felt like it. Heritage being in that big automall were obnoxious and arrogant . They weren't taking me serious ( I certainly don't appear to be able to afford it) and the older sales guy kept touch my wife's arm all the while checking her out. She said he was " creepy ".
