MSD Coil blew up on 68 440 with electronic ignition

Hello FCBO,

Yep, thought I had an oil leak until I saw the top of the coil split open. Looks like I have a wire crossed up, not sure. I also overheated the coil when trouble shooting harnesses, may have damaged it there beyond help and it just blew now driving around. Not too familiar with the fault scenarios, if someone can enlighten me that would be great!

One scenario: In my opinion MSD coils are not all that great to begin with. I never bought into their hype.

Any time you leave the ignition on to ''long'', or don't use the proper resistor you have the chance to ''burn'' up the coil.
