I'm going to change the camshaft on my 360, I already bought a set of clevit camshaft bearings but If I'm right the unique way to change them is with crankshaft removed and engine out of car.

The engine has less than 1000 miles since rebuilt and I guess my mechanic replaced cam bearings while assembling the engine

So, what should I do? could be safe to install an aftermarket camshaft without replacing those bearings?

Think about all the racers who switch cams with every run. They're not replacing the bearings. Beside, new cam bearings with the engine in the car is a pain unless the whole front end is off.

If your changing the cam for the sake of change only, then no need to change the bearings. You should use all new lifters though.
New lifters on an old cam is OK. Used lifters on a new cam, not so OK.
