Built in obsolesce is standard corporate practice that is at once bordering on criminal behaviour and arguably a necessity in our consumer driven economy. I'm old school and believe in that built in quality and durability should be mandatory. Attached is an interesting article that looks at both sides of the issue.I feel that the systems that try to convince us that we need the latest updates are also designed to make our current computing devices obsolete since they generally turn our systems into performance slugs.
I realize that they become targets for malware and other BS viruses but still eventually render our systems unusable forcing us to go get a new one to start the cycle over again.
I have a Samsung Galaxy tab 4 that is pretty much a coffee coaster these days thanks to all the security updates it has downloaded over the past 3 years.
It has a beautiful start up Galaxy splash display but that's about it...
