Hey there, ive always loved old cars but wasn't serious about building one until this yr. I wanted a lil bit different car than what my family has like mustangs camaros chevelles etc. I just didn't realize how different a c-body is. Kinda overwhelmed but gonna stick with it. Bear with me I'm new to the tech. Aspect and mainly got this cuz I have friends who are professional mechanics, body guys etc... So they're teaching me basics which is what I want. And yes I did get an FSM from eBay and its en route now.

Now about the car, 1966 Plymouth Fury Vip 383 Commando V8 3spd auto

Testing... My windows phone doesn't seem to be cooperating with my attempts to upload these pics easily.

goals?

Well honestly my goals with this car were more about me rather than the car. I wanted to use this car as a platform to learn the basics of engine work etc. At first I had ideas or a rat rod sorta thing but I love the lines on car too much to physically alter it in any way. Now ive settle on a simple clean look. Definitely doesn't have to be original. But nothing too crazy either just minor touches here and there that scream me.

Goals:
4link susp and bags
replace 3spd auto with 4spd man.
complete 383 rebuild
new loud thumping cam (I'm deaf already)
farm out interior
suicide doors

Please post a lot of pictures of your mods. Stan loves pictures!

Nice project car you've got. If your VIN ends in 45425, my parents bought your car used in 1967... Probably not the same car, but cool if it was.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! Kool car, love a hardtop!

Welcome aboard. Project threads are the best IMHO and look forward to following your progress. Would like to see some under hood pics also.

So as I progress should I post this pics and updates back on this thread or do I great a separate thread for that?

:sSig_greetingsthor: ........... :welcome:
Nice car. Great lines and a hardtop to boot.
It will be a great learning platform that you can enjoy also. I'm not so sure about the four link and suicide door thing. That stuff will distract from the project I think. Spend that time and energy on learning body, paint and basic's. Then you can go on to something more suitable to the serious modifications.

Will.

Yeah thanks. When I first got it I wanted to go super crazy with it but as time goes on I kinda like the idea of just cleaning it up and having nice classy look to it. It's already rare and unique enough , and especially stands out with most those my age driving tuners. Don't worry, engine tranny and body work first. I'm excited. I love this forum.

You can start a project thread if you want to either in the member projects section or in the slab section...

Good luck on a 4-link. You will be building it yourself (or paying for the fab) as there is no kit, but a few members have gone that route. If memory serves me right, the front end is a ***** to airbag as well...

Looks like a nice project car. Interesting it's from Oregon. First C-Body I ever came into contact with was a 66 VIP Fury from Lowell Oregon. Some friends of ours bought it new. It was the nicest car I had ever ridden in up until then! I remember my Dad was so envious of that car! :icon_razz:
