Nice '61 Newport at C&C today

Only other big Mopar besides my Imperial today. 1961 Newport 4-door sedan. 361 auto, air, ps, converted to later-style brakes, cloth interior. The owner has had this for 22 years.

A great looking car! Nice touch to upgrade the brake system, too. Somehow, I suspected the interior would be "blue". Thanks for posting those pictures!

Generally, I'm not a fan of wide whites on a post-'60 car of any make, as they had gone out of style by 1960 or so. But this Newport, with stock wheel covers and a nice white paint job, appear to belie the "no wide whites" thinking on certain post-'60 cars.

61 was actually the final year for factory wide whites on Chryslers like this Newport. 62 is when the narrower whitewall tires kicked in officially from the factory, so the wide whites are correct on this car.

I was thinking 1960MY...guess I was close!
