Hey all...
Changed out the headlight switch in the Polara today.
Pulled the gauge pods and was surprised to not find a voltage reducer.

I'm pretty sure the car never had one, and everything works like it should.

I also pulled the instrument pod apart and it wasn't in there either. The three nuts attach to the water temp gauge.

A bit of corrosion and heat damage on the black ammeter wire. I'll clean it up and put everything back like it was.

Did I miss something?

Does the VJ-465 have to do with the date of manufacture?

On a '66,the voltage limiter is part of the fuel gauge and not mounted externally.

And I spent 50 bucks on a fancy solid state one I didn't need. Guess I should've asked first.

Oh well I'll sell it.

I have to say, after cleaning up the terminal on the black wire and it's stud at the ammeter, things seem to be working better!

That's interesting, my 66 New Yorker has one. Is this a polara only deal?

It was a mix. '66 Imperials, Barracudas, Furys have limiters in the fuel gauge. Some of the other cars, like the Valiant for example, had an external limiter.

I think 1966 was a transition year with some cars getting the newer style regulator, but honestly, I've never really researched it.
