So in an effort to adjust the timing on my '66 300 with 383, I hooked up my timing light like I would any other car, but I can't seem to find any mark on the flywheel to time by. Am i missing something here?

I'm guessing you mean the harmonic blancer and not the flywheel. Mine was also hard to find but it's there. I had to get under the car, and wipe away the dirt and grit. I turned the motor over one click at a time and wiped some more. Once it was done I took a paint pen and filled in the groove so I could see it clearly as needed.

You mean a mark on the harmonic balancer right? Should be there....might have been painted over? And you will need to use some white chalk, or paint in the line once found so it shows up better with the timing light.

Yeah that's what I meant...mine is covered with surface rust so it must be pretty faint...used to a obvious notch to look for.

It should be pretty obvious. Some are notched deeper than others, but it will be there.

That is if it's in the right place.... The balancers have been known to have the outer ring spin on the rubber and the mark is no where near where it should be. If you are just looking with the timing light, you might not find it.

Make sure you are connected to the correct plug wire too... Just sayin...

If there is surface rust it may be filled in the grove. Take a wire brush to it.
