1958 Dodge Coronet Royal Coupe - $29,000 - Sussex, Wisconsin

FB Description
1958 dodge coronet Royal coupe. A great rare example of the famous finned cars. 325 V8 engine runs excellent. Push-button transmission. Cars run and drive great. This car spent time in California and New Mexico and is therefore in very good original condition. All original panels, floors, etc. - very rare. The interior redone in cloth. The bumpers are nice, not perfect. Really a nice solid, beautiful car.

The Royals were the intermediate models between the Custom Royals and the low line Coronets. I do not believe it would not be called a Coronet Royal. It does look to be in nice condition but in redoing the interior, it would have been much more attractive if they had used the original fabric/vinyl.

I agree on using the orignal fabric would be good for resale value but the velour is practical.

Strangely enough my 60 Dart had the interior redone in velour similar to its' OEM fabric colours.
Was it in fashion to use velour as a replacement?
It certainly would be more comfortable in the colder months as well as hot summer days

It seems to me if you prefer not to use the original material, then it wouldn't matter what your choice of material would be or what others did back in the day. Do what you like.

A good number of these cars were "first restored" in the 80's (or earlier) when original fabric/vinyl for these was VERY hard to come by, or just assumed to be unobtainable. Often, they used what a local upholsterer could get, which was then likely velour, as it was in wide use then on new cars, too. Now that the internet is here, correct fabric is easier to track down, and they can be re-done correctly. NICE Forward look Dodge at any rate, subtle colors (nice change from the usual reds, aquas, etc., you often see). Will be interesting to see what it ultimately sells at...…
