Sparta, NC

Note the signs for "registered rest rooms". I remember seeing these when I was a kid. I always wondered who they are registered with...

Quoting Glen Holman: "The store window says it's a Detroiter and Argo Motorcar dealer. There was an Argo Electric manufactured in Saginaw, Michigan from 1914-18, and a Briggs-Detroiter 1912-17. The dates are according to Wikipedia, that is, and might not be accurate."

Quoting Edwin Munter: "Smith Motor Sales" in "Washington, DC" -- "there are a number of pictures of Walter Smith and his Argos in the National Photo Co collection Library of Congress."

Cycle cars are another part of automotive history that interests me. In fact, I was just reading about them in the AACA magazine. Kind of a mix of car and bicycle with a touch of motorcycle mixed in. Fascinating stuff and not a lot of them survived.

Oklahoma City, 1978
Made from an old storage tank

Was still there, behind a more modern station until about 2023

Surfers Paradise, Australia

I found an address for this one and as usual, it's gone. When I search these, I'll find that it's now something like a parking lot or a block convenience store. I got a pleasant surprise this time. Not a gas station, but some cool architecture.
