Pierce and Gyroscope auto dealerships 1908.

I had to look up the Gyroscope automobile.

The Gyroscope was a brass era automobile built in Detroit, Michigan first by the Blomstrom Manufacturing Company in 1908, and then the Lion Motor Car Company in Adrian, Michigan in 1909. The Gyroscope was so named because of its engine, a horizontal, opposed two-cylinder engine, which had a horizontal flywheel. They claimed the vehicle increased stability and prevented skidding with this powertrain setup. Although other companies had this type of layout, the Gyroscope was the only one to claim its stability effect. The 16 hp engine connected to a friction transmission and shaft drive, with three body styles available.

I am with @70NEWYORKER .. the two Plymouth taxies tear-a**in down Route 1 in California carrying parts of the Mad Mad Mad World gang looking for prize in the desert.

If that location is right, can any of you Californians confirm what's there now.

The street sign has "Pacific Coast Hwy", so looks like ocean is on the right (so must be looking toward LA?), but TWO streets seem to be intersecting it. Which one? "Corral Canyon", or Solstice Canyon, or "both" of them "T" at Route 1?

The cafe is still there although heavily modified the gas station (not seen in the picture) appears to have been torn down a few years ago.

That pic popped up on Facebook last night and I recognized it right away and thought it would be fun to post it.

So... Tonight, it's really cold out, and warming ourselves around the TV is in order. I wasn't looking for it, but this movie popped up! We're about here..

Concord at E. Grand Blvd., Detroit. The old Packard Plant complex.

Left side is south, right side is north. A conveyor for bodies/walkway built in the south plant, to finishing/final assembly in the north plant.

Grand Blvd is running under that overhead connector. Pic looks late 1940's maybe. That overhead access between two largest remaining buildings collapsed about 4 years ago .. one final indignity in a way.

Whole site closed in 1954.

Maybe one day something can get done with this site. Likely not though as I think final decision to demolish the site was made last year.

Late 2018 .. It had been badly vandalized, roof torn open .. just that year.

Not so much about the gas station, but the vehicles at the pumps... Kind of rolling architecture maybe. '35 Ford with an Aerocar trailer.

'05 White Steam race car(!) and the location is Long Island, NY

EDIT: I found this pic and the story behind the location and a little bit about the race car.

Greenvale’s Bulls Head Hotel. During the 1905 Vanderbilt Cup race Long Island. Aloysius Huwer, proprietor of the hotel rented his “Auto & Wagon Shed,” to race driver and car owner, Walter C. White. White and his mechanics bunked in the Hotel and used Huwer’s Shed to ready his steam-driven racer for the event. White’s machine was the only steam racer ever to be driven in the Vanderbilt Cup Races.
