Nephler Oakland Motors, Perry at Lawrence, Pontiac MI. Date is 1926, There is nothing (that facade would be distinctive -- but doesnt even look like any part of building is there)t at that insection 100 years later.

Historical FYI. "Pontiac" brand was introduced at Oakland_Motor_Car_Company (then a car company bought by General Motors in 1909) in 1926, It was so popular, that Pontiac Division of GM was launched in 1931 and GM retired everything (cars and company) named "Oakland"

4323 Pearl Street, Cleveland, OH. Circa late 1950's.

Built 1945, mid- century modern, 15K sq. ft. Empty now, but was last an auto body shop. Original sign post still there.

Looks as though it, & general urban area, has seen better days.

The picture might have been taken in Sylvania, Georgia (Screven County), not Savannah, Georgia (Chatham County).

However, the Library of Congress cites Savannah.

I looked up the Gwinnett St address and came up with Savannah, GA. The city names are similar enough that I could see how it could be mistaken.

Present picture. Looks like it's the same building, based on the angled door.

And the uncropped original picture. Obviously, the deal is to buy 4 lbs. of lard. I think I like this version a little better.

Its been many things since its art deco roots, asserted to be built in 1941. 604 East Wisconsin, Sparta, WI. Was a Shell station AND a Buick dealer at the same time. Not sure the year depicted here, likly circa 1960.

The distinctive tower (alleged to have leaked, couldn't be used for much else than signaage, required lighting, etc.,) is gone (that happened to a lot of these designs) that have mostly survived, facade changes, etc. Now an antique shop.
