Hi, I received a call over the holidays from the original owner of my car, which is 1968 Chrysler NewYorker. John, was out in the garage and found the original plates assigned in 1968. Unlike many state, There was a political background to their system. from what I understand, you kept your plates or passed them on. These plates were originally John's Dads plates from the 1930's , also the low number represented some type of "power". as John called it., John is a lawyer and worked in Boston. He traveled from Providence to Boston each day until 1972. At that point he retired the NewYorker to weekend drives for the next 49 years. well anyway, I was happy that John sent me the plates and they match up with DMV slip. I know its not a big deal to most people, not like its a hemi car or something.
