I was watching Junkyard Diggs on Youtube and they were working on a 51 Buick that had severely bent pushrods. I don't think I have bent pushrods on my 1975 440 (hope not) but what causes bent pushrods and what are the symptoms? Paul

Stuck valve guides due to improper storage or burning old nasty fuel.

Painting the heads and getting spray paint on the valve stems in the ports. Especially an open exhaust valve, but it's not recommended on closed valves either.

Tight valve guides on a new rebuild.

Over rev engine and valves float, now the valves and piston's hit each other

Yours are probably not bent. The engine would have a miss or a dead cylinder.
