He actually kept track of how much he wasted, I mean spent, on the thing?
 
Hope he put the inner supports under the wing, inside the quarter panels, as the real SuperBirds had. So the quarter panel wouldn't "give" under the wing's downforce.

What else might justify the lofty price?

It appears the STUPIDITY that he added can easily be removed, plus hood repairs/replacement. More money than brains.... good looking car otherwise IMO.
 
The hood scoop issues have been around on Chryslers since I saw the first one on a Newport convertible at Mopar Nats in the later 1980s. Usually, they were fashioned after an existing Mopar hood scoop, so it was "all in the family". The old Direct Connection race manual statrted that it took 30 square inches of scoop openning for it to be effective.

It was not unusual to see the SuperBird wings, fashioned out of stiff cardboard, attached to the rear quarters of other brand cars, as a sort of "protection" against water-filled items which non-Mopars might received on the Saturday night Brice Road drives, during the Nats.
