RIP, Ric Ocasek of the Cars

I listen to a lot of First Wave stuff from the 90's.

Channel 33 on XMS is one of my favorite stations.

The Cars were one of my favorites during my "New Wave heyday," I saw them at least once, and they were a big part of what inspired me to start playing in bands, which I still do thirty-some years later.

My favorite Ric Ocasek performance though, was in this clip from John Waters' film "Hairspray" where he portrays a paint-throwing Baltimore beatnik, with a bongo-playing Pia Zadora!

Safe home Ric, thanks for the great music and inspiration. He leaves a rich legacy behind him.

Wow, Eddie Money and now Ric Ocasek in a matter of days...wonder who will be number three in the Death Trifecta? Damn, literally music I grew up with...

The very last song I played as a radio DJ in November 1979, was The Cars "Let's Go".

Let's Go!

Cool dude n band, sucks losing these icons of my young fun days.

Art O Matic Loop di Loop. 4x6 Oil on canvas by Peter Phillips. Was being displayed in a museum in Nuremberg Germany.

Another Mopar inspired work by Peter Phillips is the Art O Matic Cuda Cutie.

I would love to get framed copies of both works.

My wife says I am the keeper of all sorts of useless knowledge like I'm a living google search engine. Go figure.

Remember when concerts were about 15 bucks to get in ? Glad I got to see all these guys back in the day. I don’t know how kids afford it today. RIP & let the good times roll.

That sucks. I loved The Cars as a kid in the 80's, such a great sound, and his look, pure 80's rock 'n roll.
