I was a kid in elementary school when Rhinestone Cowboy was a hit. I remember us kids (trying) to sing the lyrics. Later I learned of his other work.

I liked the ol' days when a country song could crossover into the top 40. I also like songs that have a "story", which would include much of his work. Music on the radio is such crap that I could care less about my car having a FM radio. We have two AM music stations in Detroit that are better than the whole useless FM dial. One of them still plays "lineman for the county" in rotation.

He's one of the best musicians to come out of the 60s. He could really "tear-it-up" on guitar. Played guitar with one of those instrumental groups like "The Ventures" early on, filled in when Brian Wilson wigged-out and couldn't travel with the Beach Boys and sold a ton of vocal albums.
R.I.P. Finally made it to Phoenix.

His '70 New Yorker 2d HT found its way here in Finland just last year. A white coupe with a black vinyl roof, white vinyl buckets, a console, and an 8-track. Pretty nice, solid car. A member here brought it from Sweden, where it had been imported in 2005 or so.

Wha Wha what!? Glen Campbell had a '70 NY? I did not know that. (pause) Well I'm sorry, but we're going to need that back for the Smithsonian.
