Strange Custom Rear End

Sorry - I spaced on the "Dana 60" part... Run the 3.54s and I'd run the tallest tire you have. Having ripped apart a few things on my Newport with a 383 and nitrous, I would definitely go with the S60 if you have the means. If the tires stick a 505 will at best bend the housing - at worst spit a cap or axle. Especially if that 505 has any nuts. 8 3/4s are very, very good rear ends. But they have their limits. You will end up spending more to get a back brace and better case and carrier than just going with the S60.
 
And also consider that any driveline failure (i.e. breaking an 8-3/4") has the potential to damage the over-running clutch in the trans, which makes the trans able to suffer a catastrophic failure later on.

If you’re going to have a 700 hp 505” engine, you’ll probably need to spin it to something like 6800 rpm to get there.

Unless you have some pretty deep gears, you’re going to be going pretty darn fast to see that high on your tachometer.
