Stupid Interior Question

Can anyone tell me where the ignition barrel should be on a '68 Dodge Polara? I've been looking everywhere and can't find it. Where I thought it should be is a remote button trunk release? There's a cable hanging at the top of the dash to the right of the steering wheel and it's an open spot like something was there?? Just bizarre. Never noticed it before as I purchased the car without driveline.

Thank you so much Ironwolf. For some unknown reason the previous owner has put a trunk release button there where the ignition barrel is suppose to be.

He actually might've done that. I will have to check where the wiring goes from it as I couldnt see any wiring to the trunk release mechanism so the person may have wired the switch as a starter button. Will check that out..

You were right. Went under the dash and truck release switch was wired to the ignition. Pulled the carpet out last weekend and found the ignition barrel under the seat as well..
