Fairly happy with the outcome of my tinkering. Minor mods needed to the clock casing...relocated a few components to the back of the board and recalibrated with a known good tach. Now to install it in the dash. Btw...works great.

seems to work well. ran power to the acc fuse, ground to the instrument shell, signal out the antenna grommet. Later i will add a proper wire through the bulkhead connector for the signal. Mostly I did it because i wanted to. I wasnt spending 200$ on a clock....and I could use the tach.

How did you convert the clock face to a tach: Did you buy a sticker somewhere?
I used the original tach face...shaved it til it fit centered in the clock...drilled out the rivets in the clock and tapped it 4-40 so I could screw the tach face through the clock face onto the mounting shell...slotted the sides of the clock body for the bracket to fit inside since it was a bit wider than the clock bucket.
