I saw an ad for an 86 3/4 ton 4x4. Apparently the truck has been sold, and the seller is not happy.

I placed this ad on Friday, got 19 replies in a couple hours, and decided to hold onto the truck for a nice fellow with a sympathetic story about how his late father had the exact same truck. Meantime, I got offers higher than my asking price but, held true to my word. I was soft-hearted, and let him have the truck for $4000. After all.... I love my father, and couldn't imagine having the shoes on the other feet.

Next day, it's on Kijiji for $7500.

If you have no decency, or self-respect, go deal with this filthy scumbag. If you are an honest person, able to look at themselves in the mirror with integrity...... you'll avoid dealing with this lying shameful piece of canine excrement.

this kind of story I have heard several times as a seller from prospective buyers. I believed it 100% of the time and I feel I can tell when I am being "worked" with sympathy to do something about the price when nothing else was working.

Burned by a flipper only ONCE though (that I am aware of anyway - and what I don't know I cant get worked up about). not the exact flip described in post 1, but a flip nonetheless by somebody feeding me a line.

I described my TWO "flips" as a BUYER myself in another thread (the 37K mile Monaco that went to Europe). One positive on a GM car, the other negative I refer to in second paragraph above on a Mopar C body.

on the BUY side, I have paid a little more a few times because of a good seller story. Only on face-to-face deals though. Usually its a widow trying to deal with her husband's stuff, or an unsophisticated "agent" for the seller.

I just wasn't hard on them on the price when it was clear they (1) were not skilled at negotiation, or (2) didn't really know how valuable what they had was, or (3) i could tell by the environment they needed to get a little bit extra.

Can't believe its only $7500 isn't the standard practice to double the paid price. Where is that miata scumbag flipper at when we need a answer.

I'm always amazed when I see an ebay car listing about how the seller knew the previous owner for years, loved the car for years, pestered them to sell it to them, and they finally get their hands on the car -- and put it on ebay.
:wtf:

Kind of reminds me of a certain scumbag POS who listed a 62 300 vert here sometime back. We made a deal on the phone that was only $100.00 off his asking price. A few hours later he then sold it to another for the extra $100.00.
At least the car went to a really deserving member here.
