Well S**t, was going to take the Convertible for ice cream last Tuesday. When I fired her up i heard a strange noise, having heard that before on my six-pac motor in the eighties i knew what that was. I was hoping that i was wrong and that it was an exhaust leak, but no such luck. I remembered at the track that we pulled the offending lifter out thru the head. Nope the lifter wouldn't play being it was #7 intake it wasn't fun for me either. Then I had an epiphany, an old racer told me decades ago to run some transmission fluid in the oil to loosen up sticking lifters. That did the trick for now, over the winter new cam lifters and timing chain will be installed in the old girl, as they are 38 years old.

Well, I see that you still made it to get ice cream and that's what matters.

never get rid of your old trans fluid. mix it with a little acetone and you have one of the best rust penetrants. better than most.
