So I got my 69 fury about a month ago and was trying to identify what the car actually was originally. I was following the codes on the core support. So my car is brick red and I thought it was blue cause I saw some blue under paint showing through. Then I realized that there was no blue past the front end. I was so confused cause of the red interior. Then I nock more things weren't matching up. So my red 318 car has a blue 383 fury front end. I thought I bought a 383 (hood ornament reads 383) car that had a 318 in it. So now that I've got it all sorted out... How Bad is it that those tags don't match and there is no fender tag. I couldn't even tell there originally was one at one point until I Degreased for the 3rd time. Is it possible to order new ones with the right info? I immediately ran a car fax and the title is clear. Who ever did swap it did a hell of a job cause the gaps are perfectly strait and even

Sounds like maybe your Fury had been in an accident and the front was swapped out with another Fury front end (from a 383 Fury). I don't think CARFAX goes back far enough to cover the complete amount of time your car has actually been on the road.

Gee, didn't know Gary was the reason they started these demos. :)

I'm surprised. Lately you've been deleting comments after posting them....you typically post it and leave it, audience be damned. So what's changed?

From Day 1 I have deleted my replies if I read the original post incorrectly.
I'm reading the original post incorrectly more often now because of the horrific grammar I'm seeing more and more of as the demographics of FCBO change with time.

the 318 cars don't have a hood ornament. other than that, all the front sheet metal is the same.sounds like a body shop repair from accident damage. as far as the trim tags, perhaps a place like this could help. http://www.datatags.com/ . there really isn't a whole lot of value to these cars, so it's up to you if it's worth the time and money to figure out the numbers and possibly have a tag remanufactured.

Really? Why should that be of concern? Demographics have no meaning when typed words are the conduit of exchange.

Bingo. Most likely I would surmise your Fury was in a prior accident. Wouldn't matter to most people as long as everything LOOKS the same as it did prior to the accident event. But us car enthusiasts want to know.

C'mon now, give the guy more credit than that.
I bought a car the owner said it was a 383 car. But obviously didn't know what he had or he ****** me. I had to jump on it the car failed during the test drive so I lowball we the **** out of him.

Hey this is a good start to what I'm looking for! Thanks for staying on topic! :p

As stated above #s matching has little impact on the value of a Cbody. The market for these cars is very limited so condition will be the overriding factor when you go to sell it.

I was also assuming it had been hit at one point. The Car drives great it took me days and some wrenching to really notice. I was hoping it was a blue car they painted over red! That blue fire is A sexy color! I've pulled out the seats it's def a red car.... So when it gets painted do I remove the emblem and clean up the holes or do I leave It as a part of its history? I love making things proper as possible on the old girls

Show me where I said I was concerned.
I'm just saying proper grammar and being able to clearly express in words what one means is no longer important in today's world.
Look at baseball pictures from the forties. Every man in the stands is wearing a coat, tie, and a felt hat. That dress code which was once mandatory is no longer important in today's world.
