Thoughts on flipping a car? NON Mopar

Just seems dirty. LOL. I don't know why, but I don't really enjoy guys that just flip cars. Sure, they are probably car guys since they are in the business, but I have a perception that they lack passion. Having said that, I have a chance to flip a car myself and make a few grand. I am withholding the sellers contact info and location from many other guys that became interested in the car when I inquired about its value online. These guys really, really want the car. A huge part of me wants to just pass along the info and get the car into the hands of someone that will enjoy it.....but man, the dollars are tempting. I just don't want to be "that guy". Have any of you guys flipped a car? This car is immaculate, so it's not like I would buy it and spray paint rust and armor al the seats and resale it. She's spotless as is.
 
Yes I have been known to be an opportunist by flipping a few cars but I make better money with parts. I reinvest the profits from these ventures into my keepers. I wouldn't be this deep into the hobby otherwise.

I think I have bought just two over 40 years strictly for the flip.
I had to shower each time and look over my shoulder for a month.
I just don't have the stomach for it. I'll pass...

I bought the damn thing.....but I doubt I sell it. It's way, way to nice, and factory stock unmolested. It's staying with me.
 
My Moma didn't raise no fool ....... I have no problem "flipping" cars. And for several reasons. First, for profit. I'll do whahever it takes to raise cash for my current projects. No deep pockets here.
It's also a good way to direct a car to an appreciative new owner, or away from the hands of a hack.
A rough car can be parted for profit if marketed right. The parts going towards bringing life back to a needy project somewhere.

No better way to sum it up Will, That became the fate of the Gran Coupe.........Sold to someone who could restore it and supplied me with capital for the Fury.

I buy and sell a lot of parts, but generally I buy "lots" of parts and keep wht I want selling the rest to help fund what my wallet can't.
 
Heck yeah, I'd flip it.......some great points made here about using the $$ to invest into your car or to put towards an upgrade, etc. I have flipped only once before, did not buy with the intention of doing so but some things changed and i ended up selling the car. There is a lot of self-defense built into the minds of car hobbyists.
 
I just can't see myself selling it. I have a hard time selling anything. But I could use a fresh 440 for the Dart. Or some new trim for the Polara..........damn.

Absolutely!!! The shortest I've ever owned a car or truck is 15 minutes - the longest, 33 years.

It's so tempting, and easy, to become car rich and cash poor. I have brood interests in cars and deals just won't stop popping up. I've learned to look the other way unless there is a quick profit to be made.
I'm facing things like $1400.00 steering wheel, $900.00 dash pad, $800.00 interior panels on my current restro. Flipping cars and parts has become a great way to support my projects.

I am not sure you guys can appreciate what it is. But I did warn that it was not a Mopar. Ross might be able to because he drags. Anyway, it's a 2003 Cobra with 9,716 miles on it. But the two best parts are; factory stock and immaculate condition. It has all of the factory inspection marks still under the hood. These cars are so often found modified or swapped to a solid rear axle. They came from the factory with huge Manley I-Beam rods so it's common to find them with swapped pullies for higher boost. The car is brand new inside and out. I got it for 5,000 below the going price. Buyers are beating down the doors, but I am keeping it.....for now.





Engine compartment needs a detail, the tap water here leaves white spots, but easily removed.
 
Love any car that only afficienados can understand. May look like a ten year old plain-jane Mustang but it's way more than that.

Being a closet Mustang guy I can appreciate that one. My girl Ellie's everyday driver is a 05 Mustang convertible.

I've restored several early Mustangs in the years past and have two of my restorations featured in Randy Leffingwell's "Mustang", published in 1995. A red 65 "K" 2+2 GT and a black 66 "A" convertible.

The first generation was my favorite. Just a fun car.

The very early Shelby cars are about the only ones of interest to me, but how do you pick out one of the "real" ones and then be able to pay for it. :)
 
Ha! I was picturing something much older, from the sixties or early seventies. :)

Hell yeah, if I was able to get that car for that price I'd want to keep it too.

I don't get that deep into mustangs. LOL. I am sure there are some numbers I will eventually run across. I do know that they made about 13,500 2003 cobras counting both coupes and verts. That's as far down the list I have gotten. Oh, and there were 851 in this color.
