Tom Petty dead at 66

More "Fake news" from a crappy news organization that doesn't do any fact checking! Thanks Dan Rather! (The "Founder" of fake news)
Get it right or don't get it at all, I say!
I can read bullshit all day long on the internet, but when you say someone died and they didn't... Now that's an all time low!
Imagine how his family feels! Way to go CBS!

I read the news article explaining and I read it was the police department that admitted to the error and apologized.

I saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Pine Knob(it will always be Pine Knob to me for those reading this and know the venue) and they had to be the tightest group of rock and roll musicians that I've ever seen. I don't think they could have sounded better in a recording studio.
The man was, is and will always be an icon.

currently has no brain activity. His family decided to disconnect life support and he isn't expected to survive the day
You were not wrong Bob. Even if you wake up it would be not the man we knew of. This would have been the case with my dad had they managed to hold on to him it would not have been the man I talked to last Wednesday and I have been through that twice (no fun).
So I say you played the odds to inform us early and you were right.

Something new from Petty tomorrow?

I don’t see how that bursts any bubbles He and Twilley were friends and on the same label during that time and I think each made appearances on the others. Petty was off and running at that point. How about some Mudcrutch?

Tom Pretty radio is frequently on in Laura's car, get to hear all kinds of songs I never knew he had, solo or in bands.

And I don’t think there’s one song that’d make me think about changing the channel.

I have a brief Tom Petty and Mike Cambell/Heartbrakers story. On a small island in the middle Pacific ocean there is a radio station KKCR, which is a local public radio station that promotes Hawaiian culture and music of all kinds and arts of Hawaii and all cultures.

They had a fund drive couple of years ago and came up short,...long story short, Tom, Mike, and the Heartbrakers heard about it, called the station and wrote a check for the difference to keep the station going, so people could hear new independent music and ideas in Hawaii and world wide. Tom and Mike and the Heartbrakers kept up with the station and continued to support it when needed, they would call in and request songs when they were visiting the island. Cool.

Mr. Petty, a good guy to go down the river with.

Here is a link if anyone is interested

All I know is Tom Petty is dead! Let him rest in peace! I don't need to keep hearing his music day after day after day on every channel while all the other greats that have died go silenced or are very rarely if ever heard! Really pisses me off!

Well start a thread for them!

Agree with Stubs, but I rarely listen to commercial radio anymore but back in the day Tom Petty was pretty cool (unique) for the first couple of albums but once he got... now this is my opinion, 'Mainstream', commercial radio played him to death to the point that his voice was grating to me. Commercial Radio does that to a lot of artists, I just spin the dial. Oh wait you can't do that anymore, everything's gone digital.
