Was there an auto-adjusting rear-view mirror available in 68?

Check out this ebay listing for a 68 Newport

It looks like the mirror is much fatter than normal and has a wire going to it. This particular car looks like it has a lot of other rare (for a Newport) options as well.

It is not original.
The strain relief where the cable goes into the roof would have never been on that car.

It looks like a pretty old-fashioned piece though, doesn't it? It doesn't look like it's from this century at least...

looks like its a Mirror-Matic self dipping mirror from 59 on, i think 1st available in 59 on Imps, not sure about Chryslers. dont think it lasted more than a couple of years

The mirror may be period correct, but the strain relief is not.
