Good morning all,
Newbie here, first post. Changing the water pump in a 71 NYer 440 VIN T non a/c. The pump that came out may or may not be original, but has a narrow casting and an 8 blade impeller. The new pump I got from rockauto, for my VIN T engine, is a fat bodied one, impeller is also 8 blades but smaller overall dia. with the impeller vanes opposite, original has vanes bent from RH (1st pic), new one the vanes are bent from LH (3rd pic).
My question is threefold:
1) Didn't look like it had ever been disturbed, is the narrow bodied one likely original?
2) Is the fat bodied one more of a heavier duty pump for trucks/motorhomes, a/c cars etc?
3) Will the impeller vane orientation affect coolant flow?
