So, I pulled the Imperial out of the shop, rounded up the lovely wife and handsome sons, and went for a Sunday drive a day early. With temps in the high 50s and a clear, sunny sky, it was a perfect day for a little cruise in the big Imp. I was going to go to Cars-n-Coffee this morning, but slept in till about nine, so screw that.

We jumped onto the highway, to which the car immediately gets attention. One thing I love about this car is that is does draw the admiring stares and glances. That's always fun.

Drove around in downtown OKC a bit and drove around the entertainment district; an area called Bricktown. It has a cool canal running through it with little riverboats that will take you from one end to the Oklahoma River at the other end. Lots of restaurants and such, too. We went and ate pizza at one of the very best places in OKC, called Hideaway. If you ever come to OKC, it is mandatory that you eat there. The tough part was finding parking that wouldn't pose a threat to the Imperial; and alas, I found a great end spot in the street. Cool part was people-watching, and them looking at the car as if it just landed from Mars or something.

So, we put about 35 miles on the car today, just having a little fun and food on what turned out to be a very pleasant and enjoyable day.

What did YOU do this afternoon?

Thanks for sharing Patrick. Spent today running around with the better half. Life is so hectic weekends are a great time to reconnect. Even if it is only dropping off a broken coffee machine for repair then taking the long way home along Lakeshore road between Mississauga and Burlington. Stopped at her favourite high end furniture store, antique shop then into Tims for a really late lunch. Simple pleasures with your loved ones are the best. Tomorrow if the weather forecast holds will maybe get the old cars out.

We might do a little antiquing tomorrow, too. I can't see eight hours of pre-Super Bowl silliness being worth watching, so we might as well go out and do something fun. Might just take the '68 D100...just in case we find something we can't live without!

Thanks Patrick, I have got to get my Imperial on the road now. We've been to OKC. Wish I had a restaurant tip back then. We went to the memorial and were very moved by it. I would call it a must see.
We spent the day with sunshine in the 50's and enjoyed every minute.

No pics...I didn't even think about pics. In fact, we didn't even have our cellphones on during the entire excursion! No phones, no radio...couldn't beat that!

Took the Imperial over and washed it this afternoon; the weekend was just too damn nice to stay in or just hang out in the shop! I'm starting to find little excuses just to go and drive it. I do love that car! Like driving a convertible cloud!
