Went to a meetup tonight

If you dont want your car judged or to be a participant dont put the car or registration number in the window...:wtf:

I don't think the judges are the issue, I think the self appointed judges are the point. I find the guys that are life long followers of a particular car are never asshats. They know how hard it can be and are glad someone is in the process with a car. It's one small segment that are usually doing self promotion to others around them, trying to show they are the end all, be all expert, and therefore the only person to trust. We all know at least one.

When i was taking my goat to local shows/cruises there was always that guy that had to know what i paid for the car. No matter how you answer or ignore him, he knows where he can buy a cheaper and better one. Hell, the car was invited to be displayed at the Meadowbrook Concourse for their "muscle car" circle.
I'm usually heading out before award time.

I went to a meetup tonight in my neck of the woods and had to vent a little.

My car is in no way a show car or a rare bird, but just about everything I've done to it has been on my own, on my back in the driveway. I am under no illusion that my 4door is bringing home a trophy, or expect folks to come chat me up about it. However, I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit and let some big money gray hair talk down to me about his "toy" chebby that he bought and keeps in a trailer.

So, I sit there and grit my teeth and listen politely for a while and eventually walk over to my ugly duckling and leave knowing she's mine, with my blood, my sweat, and my heard earned cash. And no one loves her like I do.

I know I'm just whining and being sensitive, but had to vent for the little guy who shows up with what sits in the driveway and not in the trailer. Show it proud!
Totally agree with you on this subject. Nothing to be more proud of then the car you put your labor and monies into. It took me 7 years to restore my 73 Charger back to stock based on the vin and fender tags and very happy with it. But there is always THAT GUY that will look your car over, as his nose touches Mars, and will pick out something that he thinks is wrong. Last year I came close to taking the center cap off one of my wheels and was gonna stick it up one guys arshe. Enjoy my friend and truck on with what ever you bring........

Personally I don't care what others think....if you enjoy the car and are proud of it, then more power to ya. Whenever buddies and myself would go to cruise nights we would never slam any vehicle, no matter how bad it might seem to us....always try and find some small positive thing to say about it.

When i go to actual car shows with my wagon I will usually park it in the "daily driver" section, then walk around for an hour or two, then leave. Not interested in trophies or judging even a little.

But as has been stated, there are always that small minority of old car guys who always think there stuff is better then everyones....and they usually "pay" to have there stuff, no blood sweat or tears invested in the vehicle.

I never went or go to car showz lookin' for a trophy or wall plaque. That's just not me. Those thingz just collect dust anyway. I have had some funny thingz happen in that area thu', lol...Don't forget to remind me of that Dave when we hook up at Carlisle in July.

I go to car events to see the cars and to meet other car guys/gals. As far as judging, I know what is right/wrong with every part of my car and I really don't need the opinion of some self appointed "expert".
