What did you do to your C-body today....

Remove
I was able to pull the intake manifold (and heads) without removing the AC compressor.

Definitely do-able, especially with a big-block. I did that very thing on my Coronet 500 (361 engine) several years ago; and all I had to do, so far as the compressor, was to remove the brace on the driver side that goes from the manifold to the compressor.

Heavy for sure, Its like unbolting a Harley V-Twin off the motor..

I got my trailer the other day, now I can clean and organize my garage and storage units a little better.

As I mentioned earlier, I pulled the intake the get it powder coated, primer grey since he couldn’t do Chrysler Blue, I had to paint it. then clean up the top end.. new valley pan all parts back and ready to go back on. I did the valley pan and throttle linkage in silver cause I liked it better than all Chrysler Blue…

Appreciate it Vlad, yeah certainly too hot to really work on it, but I can’t leave her in pieces. I’ll get on it this weekend and get it back up. Update the pictures when I’m done. Having seen you’re a New Yorker, it doesn’t need a damn thing. I wish I get own it, but.

Onto an early winter project. Since my 9.25 is going bad, the carrier is SHOT.. It was cheaper to have a complete working axle shipped from Murray Park then it was to rebuild the current one. So I gave it a good power wash, got rid of the old brakes and drums and just dropped it off today at the shop to get disassembled for powder coating. He’s going to disassemble today I’ll pick it up tomorrow and drop the housing and backing plates off at the coaters, once back He’ll put get back together with new bearings and such. Took specific pictures of the factory assembly line markings. Hope to replicate and reinstall before it goes back in the car. Cant wait!!

I pulled the C bodies out of the shop to work on the R/T
My friend @Xenon stopped over and helped with taking off the hood.

Went to drive the Imperial today, and the battery was dead. Switched to the Coronet, had to jump the starter solenoid to start it. It ran for about 20 seconds, and either ran out of fuel or the fuel pump quit. Well, I guess I'll just have to take the '69 D-300 to coffee and cars tomorrow! It's long overdue for a day of driving

The vinyl top trim on my Imperial has always bothered me. It looks like they were painted to somewhat match the vinyl, could have been at the factory or by some PO, but it's faded and just looks bad this point. Also, since I'm getting rid of the vinyl top this trim needs a little more presence. Decided to give it a go with a small buffing wheel on my drill and some polish.

Some before and after side by side. It's not perfect but I think it'll look much better on the car than it did. :)

One down, eight to go...

A few weeks ago I took the passenger side rear tire off to see why it wouldn't release the parking brake. Seems to have been overly tight somehow. Drum at 11.0" and shoes at 11.0" so I closed the shoes down to 10.9 and slid the drum back on. Check the emergency and it released. Put the tire back on to give it a couple of spins to check for drag and stupidly let my right hand go farther around on the third spin. With the car lowered to the jack stand there was less than a 1/2' of space between tire and asphalt. Pretty much shredded the side of my ring finger. The pain was intense, it was ugly, and my 13 year old ran away when he saw it. An hour to clean with running water, lay the skin back, used dermabond, and then wrap snugly in gauze to keep the skin flat. Probably should have gotten four or five stitches but it was 6 PM on Sunday and I didn't feel like 4 hours at Kaiser Emergency. No right hand for two weeks and then light use. Just worked on checking the Focus brakes this past Sunday four weeks since that.
