I was supposed to be, but when I was 15 my first car was a 78 Trans Am. Owned 40 of them by the time I was 18.

My dad passed in 83 when I was 13. He gave me a picture of his 67 Hemi Satellite that was long gone before I came around. Dad always had MOPAR, my Uncle Steve had a real 69 ZL1 Camaro, and my other uncle had trucks.

Nothing to go on by the time I was driving, I wound up doing the BBC Chevy thing with a few Dadge products mixed in. Notably a 68 RoadRunner, a 68 R/T Charger, and a 73 RoadRunner. Plus tons of parts cars.

But now that I an 42, I am just another car *****. Don't care. Looking at a 71 Lotus powered Ford Cortina tomorrow.

Damn, that's about no.3 on my bucket list, but I'd prefer the first generation.

I have little brand loyalty, but I lean Ford. Lincolns for luxury, fox bodys for hot rods, square body Chevy trucks for trucks. Here's a sample of things past and present...

I don't get where the Dadge thing is coming from. Is that a thing? I've been around Mopar all of my life and never heard anyone use the term "Dadge"

Born & raised in central North Carolina in the 60's & 70's. There was this guy named Richard Petty. He drove a blue Plymouth then later a blue & red Charger. He was always friendly. Didn't act like a red neck when interviewed on TV or radio. He did a lot of local/regional tv comercials for soda's, sun glasses, lawn mowers, department stores. He won a lot. Never saw him mad. And was cool. Kinda like Jimmy Johnson of todays Nascar. Been a life long fan of him & Mopars since I was 8 years old. Its etched into my DNA & no cure for it!

Years ago while working for a Dodge car dealership. There was this girl who was a service writer. She was a die hard Chevy girl. She pronounced Dodge as Doooge (Doo-ge) we sent her back to the Chebbie store. I also knew a guy from Boston. He liked me & knew I was into Mopars. When he would see me he would ask....Bob hows that Dadge running. I'd come right back with a heavy southern accent like "runnin Purdy dog gone good der Bubba" . He would get a big laugh. I miss that guy. Hope he's doing well.

Cool 748, Stew. I had a 900sp, a friend had a 888SPO. Another has a RC30 that has been sitting in his garage since I sold the Duc, about 10 years ago.

When my parents came from the old country obviously English wasn't their mother tongue. I was about 6 or 7 before I figured out Dodge wasn't pronounced "Datch".

Easy, for one thing I got to choose for myself my dad is loyal to a car till the first time it doesn't start or anything besides wear out items and maintenance the car is as good as gone. Dad ended up buying a Plymouth Gran Fury wagon, Mom liked it a/c worked and didn't overheat like the 400 SBC it was replacing, SOLD. This would be car I learned a lot and learned to drive on, oh yeah there was the Richard Petty thing, and a lot of time in H.S. library and a stack of car magazines ran across a couple of articles about the Ramchargers, which lead to curiosity with the company as a whole, and let's face it as of the late seventies where there any more reliable engines than a /6, 318, or a BB Mopar. I really don't think so. This is also the era where if your gm car was on 49990 mi you should find a transmission shop within ten miles or start calling tow companies. Fords I don't know or care to this day, I have made some decent money from there stock though.

It's a Chevy guy thing. My old man says it the same way.. they tend to use it in a derogatory way.

I would have assumed it derogatory (why I asked) and almost added I'd never even heard it that way. The first time AAR65 used it I though it must have been a typo but nope.

I remember sitting in the back seats of a Belvedere, a Polara and a Dart as a kid. Guess I got whatever moparitis from my dad. Thanks pop!

And I am not brand loyal. Chevy makes a better truck than Ford or Dodge. That is why I have an 11 DurtyMaxx 2500HD, an 09 Tahoe daily (455 RWHP), an 07 TrailBlazer SS, and my daughter drives a 12 Equinox.

And old stuff? Just a realist. Dollar for dollar, a Chevelle or Camaro will give you an actual return.

my 65 Fury? 65 442? my first gen Montes, G bodies? All worth nothing compared to the flipper cars. But for some reason those upside down but much more rewarding to me type cars are the ones I keep forever. I have an 81Malibu that I first built in 1988. Still have it. Sold a dozen Chevelles in that time but Chevelles, Mustangs, Camaros are like arseholes. Everyone has them.

Whatever makes you happy but keep the language in check on this site please. Other post deleted

And I never mentioned what really kept MOPARs on my mind for so long. My Uncle Greg.
I remember when I was literally 6 years old sitting on a blanket in the back of his 70 440 Dart. No pipes, no back seat, just Fast and Loud. And my buddies 69 440RT Charger breaking the driveshaft with 4 of us in the car. That is where I got the 440 Six Pack that sat on my shop floor for five years. Sold it for a grand, like a moron around 6 years ago. Dadges just arent that poplular in West Palm. Prob because there are too many collectors. When my 70 LS6 Chevelle is done I will ship it to Vegas Barret-Jackson and use the money to finish up the 442 and get the 65 Fury up to snuff. The Plymouth isa fast, but she isa ugly right now. Chicken wire is for chicken coups.

I almost get the feeling you are on the wrong forum.....not sensing much love for the Mopars. I like Fords almost as much as Mopars, but your blanket statements make me laugh, I.e....Chevy makes the best trucks....LOL. Must be why Ford outsells them and they are quickly losing market share to Ram. You sound more like a govt motors guy that stumbled onto a Mopar forum. I'll apologize if proven wrong, but even if wrong you sure come across that way.
