What the "K"?

I have a guess what it means, but I'd like to know for a fact. I've noticed when looking at parts for my 68 NYer that sometimes it will say for Vin code "K". I'm pretty sure it has to do with the engine. Mine is has a "K".

K code is low performance 440. It stands for 350hp. The L code is high performance 440. 375hp

When did Chrysler make a "LOW PERFORMANCE 440"........ ? You must be referring to the base 440 as opposed to the TNT.
