i heard there was a guy a couple hours north of me (since you can't go south) that had hundreds of mopars and a few randoms. so i met up with him today and took a look around. only went to his house and not his extra three acres of cars and trucks, mostly mopar he says...

here is a few pics of the stuff he held dear.

oddly enough, the wildcat was my favorite! and someone please tell me what the center ET looking thing is on the yorker? i'll be grabbing the front left fender and a few other things from it.

The shape of that thing on the New Yorker strongly resembles those photo cells that were available as options for automatically dimming the bright lights when oncoming traffic arrives, but I doubt this is such an installation, they were usually mounted inside on the driver's side.

The auto dimmers of '68 were much narrower and not chrome as well as being mounted on the inside as Klaus mentioned. That might be something out of the J.C. Whitney catalogue to scare dear away as you approach or something.

Too bad it couldn't save that poor car, whatever it is....

And there it is! I knew it wasn't factory.

Great detective work; reading now they were body color with Lincolns I remember seeing such a thing before. Really ruin the looks of a car with questionable operating conveniences. They're as large as the first ones used in the higher ranked GM marques in the 50s where they called them "Autronic Eye".

Time, it only takes time...

How do you find these random pictures??
They are never random. I see something and I can identify immediately with it.
A few carefully chosen key words on Google and Voila. Usually on the first page of results, too.
A couple of minutes. that's all.
That T-bird auto dimmer I knew right away.
