I need my fuel gauge on my '66 Imperial rebuilt. A full tank reads at half, and at Empty, I have near a half- tank of gas left.

Anyone have a good rebulider in mind?

If you were to ground the feed wire at the sender, turn the key to 'on', does the dash gauge go to full? I used to use a remote starter push button for this as my shop was a one man show.

I was checking mine at the sensor wire, as I was rewiring my car. And, was getting resistance in the right range from the sender, but a bit flakey. So finally put on new gauge and it was reading but flakey. So pulled the tank and replaced the sender....all good now, or gooderer as I say. Check resistance on sender wire with different fuel levels....and it will give you a clue.

The car has a new tank, new sending unit with float, and the ground strap. My old tank leaked. After I did the swap, the gauge reads exactly the same with the new parts versus the old parts. This is why I suspect the gauge itself.
