Today, I started to tackle the slow leak in my RV. It was coming from somewhere below or from the electrically retractable hose reel.
Pulled the service panel. Not made, no designed to be removable.
Whilst trying to remove it, I broke the right flange that mounts to the cavity.
It appears to be leaking from the reel.
Tomorrow, I will buy some hinges and make the panel hinges and removable.
These things were not made to be worked on.

No, they were not made to be worked on. One of many reasons I sold my older Class A diesel pusher last fall. (looking for a smaller Class C rig) From what I have heard from others it is not if, it is when those electric hose reels start to leak. Good luck.

I don’t know which is worse an RV or boat. Both are lots of fun but require tons of work and money. We are past that stage and selling our stuff off now. good luck with the repairs.

Yes, except RVs add propane, high current electrical, sewer, gray water, water and refrigerant. Add in vehicular systems, too. I got the hose reel out. I am going to install a bypass and work on the reel. I already have an o-ring that is suspect. I will test outside of the cargo bay, prior to re-installing it.
I also am going to install some hinges on the service panel, as I broke one side in the process of removing it (I had to excessively bend it and it broke at the right angle bend - the service panel is recessed in the cargo bay).
Thank goodness I have a lot of experience in wrenching on aircraft and vehicles (including Lucifer, my International Harvester model 666). I will post an update when I am done.
