Dennis. That's his name.

No not yet it is a a/c car and with the intake and headers weight is not the issue. I'm stepping up to a even bigger bar than available to stiffen the front. I haven't yet but future plans to mount front and rear sway bars off of a Chevy Trailblazer (front is tubular and vehicle weight is about the same). I am setting that car up more for pro touring/handling rather than a strip type that I already have 2 to handle that.

It turns out that as far as torsion bars are concerned bigger really is better, especially when you're talking cornering/handling ability. So, I'm going to be keen to hear how it affects the car. Be careful with the sway bars and whatever you do, leave the rear one off until you have the front one in and see how it affects the handling. Under NO circumstances should the rear bar be bigger than the front. It's even a little dicey if they are both the same size.

That's a good point about leaving the rear disconnected till I see how it reacts to just new front. It still has the 69 and earlier 15/16 bar on there now with the drum brakes. I am just getting the car whole again and driving then make winter projects out of finishing the body and improving the handling, brakes, adding the a/c back in with modern under hood pieces. Santa brought me some interior goodies so it will be livable in there. I don't want to hijack Nick's thread anymore, so I'll leave it there.

Back from my buddy's glass shop....everything came out in one piece and he has it safely stored.

You can also do a lot with front end alignment. What the factory considered ideal was slathered in compromise to allow Joe Average to be able to drive the car and have it not kill him outright if he did something relatively stupid. There's been some really good articles in Mopar Action about using offset upper control arm bushings to make significant changes to caster and camber. Better you find and read them than me blather on about it.

Today my father in law and I spent family day together in the garage, for Kevin he got to relive what he did a lot of in the past on his police cars and on customers cars...it was nice listening to him reminis

We found many of Dennis issues....broken motor mount, rotten freeze plug, and a very bad timing chain.

It's 3 teeth off...

All depressing finds, but not unexpected and not difficult fixes.

How is your sweetheart's knee coming along? That looks way worse than a few tired out engine parts.

She is doing quite well now. And plans to go back to work on a few weeks.....

I have been picking away at my Ram I bought and getting things done for this car.....I've been picking and pulling parts for it....seats are in progress.....got some stuff blasted....had the shop behind mine go through the tranny, found a bad bushing, some screwed up parts in the valve body, and the converter neck was wore.....

It's a 318, stretched timing chain, off 3 teeth, scored oil pump, wiped cam, mushroomed lifters, every bearing either has hot spots or are wore out, blown out valve stem seals, and full of sludge and blockages and that SOB still ran well....

Must be a 318 Dodge...

Run some Liqui-Moly engine treatment through it, fresh oil, a filter, stop-leak, a pint of Marvel Mystery oil, and drop it back in.

Hard to kill, those 318s.

I have a question. Are the wheels on your Fury 15X6.5? If they are do they have part number 3580064 near the valve stem? Reason I asked is I'm trying to find these wheels for my 73 fury I taxi. Having a hard time locating them and I'm not sure what cars they came on. I've read somewhere they came on 1972–1973 full-size wagons as well as police cars and taxis. Don't know if they were standard or optional on wagons. Would you know what Mopars these came on?

Yesterday I found a 1973 Dodge Polara police car in a junkyard. I pulled both front wheels off the car and had the tires dismounted. One turned out to be a 15X6 and the other 15X5.5. I bought the 15X6 because it was original to the car and had a H stamped on it for heavy-duty. Couldn't bring myself to leave it behind even though it's the wrong size for my car. This is a 400–two barrel car. No motor no axle and no speedometer.

Mine are indeed 15x6.5 just as the brochure details, I have 3 date coded for '77, one date coded for '75 and one has a March '73 date code and is the only date code correct rim I have on the car.

Sounds as though someone put an earlier 6" H rim on that car as the 6.5's started mid '72 near as I can tell from research, the 5.5 wide rim is just a regular standard steel rim.

Your best shot at finding a set is to find a wagon as they had 6.5" standard rims.

Hope that helps.
