Hello all! Hope you guys are having wonderful weekend and getting ready to enjoy Easter Day with family tomorrow ! This one goes out to all the lowriders and all the modified guys out there . I’m looking to grab a better set of wheels for my 1968 Plymouth fury 3 such as Astro supremes , Hollywood stingrays / appliance Apaches , but for any of those to work I would have to convert to 5 lug, my question is this : Do I NEED to do a disc brake conversion or is there anyway I can use drums off another vehicle , or swap hubs , maybe something I haven’t seen / heard/ thought about etc . I am fairly new to classic cars , and there is very few information out there when it comes to modifying , but I am not new to wrenching . Thank you guys in advanced !

What car is this for.....?

All "C" body type and years are already five lug most are 5 on 4.5...........

Ok, I'm not recommending this, but there's a lot of guys out there that use a 115mm x 5 bolt pattern wheel on a 4 1/2" x 5 bolt pattern car.

4 1/2" equals 114.3mm. The .7mm difference equals .028" or .014" at each lug.

Again, I'm NOT recommending this, just pointing out what some guys do. I've never done it, nor will I do it myself, so I'm not giving advice or have any more info on the subject.

Best bet is to find some honest to **** 4 1/2" x 5 bolt pattern wheels.

ALL 1968 Plymouth Furys have 5 lug on a 4.5" bolt pattern.....

So you have nothing to convert...

Just get the wheel you want with the correct bolt pattern ( 5x4.5")

.

I'm pretty sure he wants to convert to 5 on 5" to take advantage of the supply of wheels for Cadillacs, Buicks, and such.
You can source Imperial front brakes up to '73. Not sure about early drum brakes swapping onto your spindles. I think the rear end is wider, but not positive on that.

For sure man ! Thanks again for you input . I would never run a conversion spacer either so no worries ! Lol I’d rather keep my hubcaps for the mean time .

Idk where you got that information from sir but mines is not 5 lug , I currently have 4 lugs on my vehicle , but actually your comment may not be a complete waste , i May be able to just get a complete front of a 5lug fury thanks for the input

Exactly ! The end goal is to be able to fit some nice wheels , do you think I can get those 73 imperial pieces from my local parts store? Thanks as well for the info

IF there are only 4 lug nuts on each wheel, that is NOT the way the cars came from the factory, period. They only came with 5 lug nuts/lug nut studs on each wheel, for ever and ever. The pictured vehicle looks much more like a '67 Chrysler than a Plymouth Fury III, with all due respect.

The local parts store MIGHT be able to get the '73 Imperial items for the front, but what about the rear axle shafts? Go into the websites of your local big box auto supply stores and do a search for them.

I have not looked specifically for anything larger than a 17" wheel diameter, but it seems that most anything which is available in 17" diameters is also available in the 5x5 bolt pattern, too. Which, to me, makes the conversion to the larger bolt circle a moot point . . . but I haven't investigated to see that my suspicion is true. I've seen aged Crown Vics and Mercury Grand Marquis cars with 22s on them, which have the same 5x4.5 bolt circle on them. A situation where the tires/wheels are worth more than the car they are on used to be. FWIW

Your car, Your money, Your dreams . . .

Enjoy!

Hmmm , we’ll to be honest I’m not quite sure what to say, mines has four lugs , the pattern is 4x100 And I am 100% positive it’s factory . sorry for the confusion , the vehicle I posted wasn’t intended to be compared to mines , it was just a picture of the wheels and look Im seeking to achieve . And I’m not really sure about the rear , or the front to be honest , that was the whole point of this post .. to get input on what is interchangeable , what kits work the best , etc
