Hub Cap Choice

I have BFG RWL's on my Fury and it's a pain to keep the letters white. Apparently they changed the manufacturing process at some point and now the letters are prone to turning brown. I clean them with Brillo pads. Anyway, back to your hubcaps.... they suit your car but I personally prefer the black steelies with "dog dish" or "poverty caps" or no caps at all with the RWL's. Not what I have on my car but were I to change I'd probably go with cop wheels and no caps or cop caps for a moonshine runner look and turn the RWL's inside so they wouldn't show.
I tend to agree with you. To me, the poverty cap look defines a Mopar muscle car. Not many C Bodies are muscle cars; this one is. I apologize to everyone else to whom I may seem to be bragging. All opinions are always respected, and I’m just looking for different views.
To me these factory wheel covers aren't too "dressy" so they suit the look. Don't usually care for something other than Magnums, etc., with RWL tires, but these DO seem to work.
Most 1970 Newports were 383-2 bbl equipped and since they were smooth and quiet, but not quick by any measure, I just don't get why folks dress them up as performance cars when they are nice reliable smooth daily driver cars at best.
RWLs may make sense on a Hurst 300 but why one puts them on a Newport seems mindless to me at least and especially with the factory hubcap..........................................you asked............................

Someone here in DC has a '68 Newport droptop, in just about the same color as yours. It has (Chrysler) poverty caps, but the wheels are painted to match the car, and it has whitewalls, which makes it much less "impoverished" looking.
Well, with the additional information that sets your Newport apart from a plain jane factory stock one, you get a pass from me at least.
Maybe you should consider a factory white wall with standard wheel covers to make it a sleeper - RB stroker.
For me, working on these cars, restoring them and caring for them is intended to reflect the past and some of the finer moments of transportation innovation, styling and values that no longer exist. If you want to turn them into something that they never were or never represented, then that is your choice.
I like to keep my cars original to reflect a time when cars were really beautiful and had qualities that we will never see again. Our cars make me look back at times that were better than all the problems of this current world.
So if you just want to ignore those interests, then go ahead and make them something they never were intended to be and honestly, they don't make "performance" vehicles since any current vehicle will outhandle them, get better mileage, leave more rubber when you peel out and so on. Such cars represent nothing to me except one person's idea of "cool".

I didn't want the look of the BFG's logos so I just flipped them to the inside and have black tires. You could do that if you like the look and the Dog Dishes. That's what I did.
