UNBREADED! '71 Monaco Wagon

Great looking wagon !
I honestly like the original wheel covers on these cars .
Have fun with your new toy and road crew !

I like the wheels versus the wheel covers on your wagon. Superb choice!
I actually do like these wheel covers, but I love aftermarket rims, preferably old school, or old school in style. These rims will end up on my four speed car, and I'll replace them with another rim. They only had front, or rears, available when we needed to get tires, so I got these knowing they'd be used on something.

I blame Hot Rod magazine in the 80's, when it was still in black and white, for impressing on me a varied assortment of aftermarket wheels that I cannot get out of my head to this day. It's nice to have some variety when it comes to "shoes" on a car.

Thank you for telling this story ,posting the great photos and saving those wonderful dogs.Thumbs up all around!

Congrats on the wagon Scott! I'm looking forward to your adventures because I know you're gonna drive the hell outta it!

Since you brought it up, when do we get to see Xenon's wagon with new paint and woodgrain, you know the way you would do one Tim? How far along is the interior at this point?!

Great story, glad you could take in the pups! The seller was probably relieved to know they went to a good home.
Yeah, the seller is very appreciative of me taking the little rascals. They rock, I look forward to them riding in the wagon with me. It's too bad I can't bring them to Carlisle with me, and reunite them with their previous owner. He's is the one who literally saved Winston, and I'm very glad he did. They need some polishing, but they are very intelligent dogs, and have an amazing amount of potential. If only I could teach them to turn a wrench.

@Xenon likes to keep it mysterious, can't divulge too many facts.
We have been sworn to secrecy.
I'll flip and spill whatever few beans I have... Project status as of two months ago (6th Midwest C-Body Show, June 25, Volo, IL):

Looks like a ways to go yet but at least the T&C is running again. When I sold it, it had whitewalls, and it badly needs some again!! Keep up the good work....................he needs to emulate Tim more...........................

Alright, enough of this stock gabbering, this is a day 2 thread! :poke:

That said, I'm going down to Radio Shack to get myself a set of 10w 6x9s to go with a sweet Realistic tape deck I've had my eyes on. Can't wait to crank up some Boston and Journey!

This wagon will never be stock in my ownership, or the next, I'll let you guys worry about that with your cars. I like RWL tires, a hotter cam, better exhaust, and a goofy license plate.

Noo,, No I do not need to emulate Tim,, I have enuff "back windows"...

At a certain point the story will be told....
Untill then.. well,, you will just have to wait... :p

Great long roof and bravo to you for taking in those 2 beautiful dogs!

A bit more progress. Wyatt reassembled the engine, and placed it back in the car.

Tomorrow he will bolt up the transmission and all the accessories, and get it running by Friday. Then a short drive, and we will see what the engine thinks of the parts we threw at it. Hoping it is happy, and Wyatt is able to put on some miles to make sure.

Awesome looking wagon there. That wheel and tire combination really makes that Monaco pop. You'll have to bring it over to one of our events next summer.

What! You still have a Radio Shack? Let me guess….. it is right next door to the video store? The one that has a curtain to the back “adult video room”.

This must be in the Twilight Zone.

We actually had a Radio Shack in the next town, up until about five years ago. None of the good stuff they had back in the day, though.

And I worked at one of those video stores in '93, right out of high school.
