I'm considering ordering one of the legendary auto interiors seat upholstery kits for my 66 sport fury but they don't offer the seat foam replacement sets for that particular year. Obviously it makes no sense they make the upholstery kit but not the foam kit but who am I to have common sense. They make both bucket seat sets for the 65 sport fury and pictures I've seen online for the 65, the seats look very similar size and style other than obviously that year stitch patterns. Has anyone encountered this and used these seat foam sets or does anyone know if they are close enough to the same dimensions that I could be stuck with just a little foam shaving? Trying to avoid having an upholstery shop do the install and make the foam pieces from scratch.

They are not the same seat foam. Any decent auto/boat upholstery place can make nice new seat foam for you and will make your new seat covers fit nice and taut.

There are some aftermarket ones out there, but I've not seen them get any reviews... the ad says they're for C body, but I don't think they're the same size for B or A body, and I don't believe in the "one size fits all" approach.

1840-GTX67 Mopar 1966-67 A,B,C-body Seat Foams (Except 1966 Satellite)

thx, yea the link you posted were the ones I was just looking at and thought the same thing about them being more of a one size fits "most" approach with them. lol I just talked to a custom upholstery shop and they are going to do the seats for me since legendary is way behind on the kits and I'd need someone to do the foam/install anyways.

The only issue with custom-made seat covers is that for a 1966 Sport Fury they can't do the heat embossed patterns and the top silver central piping accent that Sport Fury covers have. That's where the Legendary covers are so nice.

You might want to look on eBay to see if there's anybody who stocks the Legendary covers in the colour that you're looking for. Sometimes you might get lucky and find somebody who's got a set sitting in their inventory.

had a buddy that worked for legendary about 10 years ago and he brought them my 68 buckets and they redid them in house...so they improvised something...maybe a call to them ...think they may have modified b body stuff but cant be sure

I have the foam from Legendary I bought 2-3 years ago still in plastic and the box which was somewhat crushed ( but no tears) and no damage to foam (big box with no internal support so box crushed easily). The person who did my seat covers from Legendary (great product) wanted and did his own foam. Bottom line, the box is in my way and I need to get rid of them. Make me a ridiculous offer plus shipping and you could be the proud owner of spanking new seat foam. Legendary would not allow me a return, time elapsed, but in the discussion said they also fit B Bodies
I do not have a supply chain problem. Pictures if you like.

Thx for the offer and I appreciate it. I actually talked to an auto/boat upholstery shop a friend referred me to in Glendale today and after looking at some of his work I decided to have him do the seats and a few other things.

The legendary products are good quality and definitely keep to the original look but since I'm making other changes to the car that will take away from the 100% original authenticity I decided to go with something custom. thx for all the input, I definitely would have waited for their covers if I was staying as original as possible.

Is the foam you have for sale specifically for C body vehicles? I have the same problem, 1966 sport fury bucket seat covers from legendary, but no source for the foam. Legendary will make foam in house but WILL NOT make and ship foam to me, even though i bought the covers from them.

Looking at pictures on the internet, it looks like the 66 seats might be slightly different than the 65 but that is a question I can't answer and someone on the forum might have that answer. As far as the foam from legendary, for the 65 it can be found on Page 47, Part #MF60ABCSET of their 2021 catalog which fits a 60 - 65 B or C. I have attached a picture of the foam I have for what it is worth. I ordered it in anticipation of redoing my car and when I finally got around to it, my upholster said he would rather trim his own because they usually needed trimming anyway?

"Glendale!" That is were my car is currently being put together. I have had it over there for two years+ with a shop who took it apart and left it in pieces along with 60+ other cars (there were only 6 cars there when I took it but under new ownership but with a great referral - so much for referrals). I had had to move it and it is now moving along nicely and is in paint and next week it is beginning of assembly! What a nightmare but in a good place now! Hope your not in the same place I WAS!

Those foams work well. I used them on my 65 convertible. You just need to trim the little piece out of the top as the centre section goes flat all the way to the top of the seat for the fury.

I’m pretty certain they use the same foam seat cushions as the 65. You can ask their sales staff at Legendary Auto Interiors. They’re friendly and helpful. This is their Holiday Season 25% discount time of year.

This is all good info. Thanks C body people!

Regarding 68 Chrysler seats.... I haven't had that much good luck.
Legendary has something close, with 8 month lead time, but I have to re-use the little emblem...
PUI - no dice
Mopar Plus - no dice
Is there anyone else out there?
Or is the custom route the only other option.....

Thanks,
Mike

For the majority of the C- bodies you need to go custom, or learn a new skill like I did. There seemed to be a few bucket seat covers for C's but seem to only be one pattern.

I had bench seats and after a $4,000 quote from a busy upholstery guy I ended up doin them myself.
Epic 68 Polara bench seat rebuild for originality

I went the extreme route and tried to re- create them exactly like the factory. Half of my time was finding creative ways to re-construct the way the factory did.

I have been through this when I did my car. The 65 is different from the 66 not sure what the differences are or if they could be adapted to fit. In the end I purchased the proper foam and made my own. Turned out great.

I think you'll find for most of the seatcover offerings require that any emblems, etc, will need to be reused.
I've done some custom upholstery work (console-type things that can be wrapped in vinyl that is glued/stapled) but never any seats.
I think seats will be like some things in life - you won't know until afterward whether you should've hired a pro to install your covers or whether to attempt yourself.
Sometimes the pro has the advantage of skill and experience, but lacks pride and must make profit, while the amateur has the pride and time but lacks the skill.
So you just don't know until afterward which way to go.

But IMO, an 8-month LT from Legendary will be worth the wait vs having someone 'recreate' factory seatcovers.

@HWYCRZR
Awesome thread there, I read the 1st page or so, and skipped to the end. I'm sure the middle will be just as impressive!
