1972 Polara passenger seat comes off Its pin.

Had my seats reupholstered some time back and my passenger seat tends to fall off of the side pin because it sits flush I’m not sure what to do, I was thinking to either tap and thread a nut and washer but I’m limited in size or to weld a spacer and a washer but then if I had to remove the upper section for whatever reason I’d have to grind it off. Any help is appreciated since this is my first car.

There's a hat shaped retainer that goes over the end of the stud. I don't have a picture and can't tell you where to find one.

These are GM and would work IF they are the right size.

Missing a retainer - you can see the witness mark from it being there.

The problem is that the seat can’t be pushed in enough for the retainer to clip on

The pin that the retainer goes on may have slipped inboard a tad? Can you get to the other end of it and tap it outwards? You may have to uninstall the seat to get to it.
