Hi there,
My dash lights don't work. Is there a dimmer switch somewhere I can't find? Or are the lights just out?

Twist the headlight switch. You may need to do it a few times to clean the rheostat so it works better. The switch can also be replaced if need be.

Same part number I used to solve the no dash lights issue in my '63 New Yorker.
They used that switch in a lot of different cars and I think that's why it's still available. They stopped using it when they started using rocker switches.

To remove the the knob - shaft assembly from the switch, there is a small button located on the side of the switch assembly itself. Once you push this in, it will allow the knob- shaft assembly to disengage the stop at the end of the shaft ans to be removed from the switch. This will allow you to remove the switch assembly from the dashboard. Once you purchase the new switch, inspect it to find the location of this button - release mechanism, which may be similar to the one in the dash. My 15 yo self spend a good afternoon of quality time learning this with my starter car - a 74 Duster ; )
